As part of a life-long fascination with early cultures, I have collected art and artifacts from ancient civilizations for many years. I am continually astounded by the beauty and craftsmanship of ancient artifacts, and I love to create beautiful and interesting jewelry that shows them to best advantage.
My goal is to design and make unique jewelry that incorporates wonderful artifacts from ancient times so they may be worn, touched and appreciated, instead of lying in dark drawers or behind glass. Ancient artifacts provide an immediate tactile and visual connection with the people of earlier times. This stimulates curiosity about these people and their and cultures, and provokes amazement at the superb craftsmanship involved in making them in the days before optics, power tools or other advanced technologies.
Each ancient artifact is rare, and each one has a story to tell. It is thrilling to hold in your hand a Greek arrowhead from the time of the Trojan war, a stone seal used by someone from the ancient Near East four thousand years ago, a protective amulet from ancient Egypt, or a pendant worn by a Viking a thousand years ago.
