The centerpiece of this necklace is a Sasanian stamp seal made of carved hematite dating from the 3rd to the 7th centuries AD. The design shows the figure of a lion with a crescent moon, and may signify the astrological sign, Leo. The crescent moon symbol was extensively used by most ancient Near Eastern cultures reaching back at least 4,500 years.
Seals have been in use from Neolithic times and served to mark ownership and protect property in much the same way that a signature does today.
Strung with modern red tiger eye, quartz crystal and gold filled beads.
The clasp is PermaGold, a highly durable 24 kt gold plate with a lifetime guarantee against tarnishing.
